The Baby Journal

Welcome to our baby journal! This is where I (Kathleen) will write down my various thoughts, experiences, and milestones as I go through pregnancy and even beyond into new motherhood. I invite you to check in each month to see what's new and happening.

Tip: To read each month's posts in the order they were published, scroll to the bottom and read from bottom to top. (The most recent post will always appear at the top- I haven't figured out how to change this.)

Well here are some things you might like to know about Ethan:

He says many words now including uh-oh, ball, down, and done.

He also makes other word-like sounds which somewhat effectively communicate his need or question.

To supplement his burgeoning vocabulary, we started teaching Ethan American Sign Language a couple of weeks ago and he took to it like a duck to water. He loves it! He has learned and employs an amazing number of signs including, yes, up, down, more, eat, thank you, please, sorry and some others.

We also continue to expose Ethan to French in the form of french videos, songs, and games.

He's quite the runner and has very little fear. Loud noises startle him easily, but we have to watch that he doesn't simply walk off the edge of steps without pausing (causing a fall), and he will walk quite a distance away from us now before looking back to see where we are or if we're following. He also will pick up just about anything- some he explores with his mouth, others he shows to me.

He's learning his body parts and can point to his hair, eyes, nose, ears, bellybutton, feet, hands, etc.

Yesterday he discovered photographs. Walking down the hall, he suddenly noticed the family photo that had been there forever and he spent the 5 straight minutes having me name off who everyone in the picture was as he pointed to them. After 5min I'd had enough of the game but he wanted more. "That's Grandpa Bob. That's Nana. That's Grandma Judi. That's Grandpa Mark. That's Aunt Wendy. That's Mama. That's Ethan. That's Dada. That's Uncle Mark. That's Nana. That's Mama. That's Ethan. That's Grandma Judi. That's Grandpa Mark. That's Aunt Wendy....." Had enough yet??? ;-P Me too!

Well, anyway, those are the highlights.

Yes, we noticed how much Ethan likes to run when we watched him in Family Ministry a couple of weeks ago. He was doing his best to keep up with the "big kids" and by big kids I mean Corinne, Zack and Maia who are all closer to 2yrs old
