The Baby Journal

Welcome to our baby journal! This is where I (Kathleen) will write down my various thoughts, experiences, and milestones as I go through pregnancy and even beyond into new motherhood. I invite you to check in each month to see what's new and happening.

Tip: To read each month's posts in the order they were published, scroll to the bottom and read from bottom to top. (The most recent post will always appear at the top- I haven't figured out how to change this.)

Sleep Precious Sleep!

An amazing thing happened last night! Luke had the brilliant idea to try to keep Ethan awake for two hours (from 10pm to 12am) with the hope that if I fed him right before we went to sleep, he would be so full and so tired that he'd sleep a full 3 hours before needing his next feeding. So... we tried it. Guess what happened? Ethan did NOT sleep for 3 hours...... HE SLEPT 4 STRAIGHT HOURS!!! He slept from 12am until 4am before needing his next feeding and changing!!! THANK YOU, GOD!!!! Then, he slept until 6am! Then he slept until 8 am! And then he slept until 10am! Man that felt great! :-D

BTW I left off one very important item from the list on my last post- the video monitor. That is also something we just absolutely adore! It's great for whenever he's napping in his crib. If he makes a noise we can just look at the monitor and know instantly whether he's actually awake or just being a noisy sleeper. It's great when I want to take a nap while Luke is at work or when we're both trying to eat dinner. It saves a lot of unnecessary trips to and from his room and reduces the risk that we'll wake him if he's not already awake and we try to check on him.
