Quick Update
One night Luke and I were both busy doing something. Ethan had been fed and changed and put in his crib with a couple toys. This was not something Ethan approved of. He let us know this by his loud, angry cries. The thing was: it was rather hard to take him seriously. You see, he hiccuped at the climax a each cry! waaaaa hiccup! waaaa hiccup! waaaaa hiccup!
On the busiest shopping day of the year, Luke went out went out & bought a whole new set of bottles because Ethan refused to take the ones we had. He adamantly preferred the sample bottle Advent had sent us with the extra large nipple.
Ethan has amazing control of his head. If he is held in a sitting position, he will often hold his head up. He will also hold it up for up to 3 minutes in the tummy position.
I call Ethan my "little poser" because he nearly always folds his hands beneath his chin when he is burped on the shoulder- always ready for pictures! ;-D
Ethan and I recently visited the Fairchild's house. At one point during the visit Grace was holding a sleeping Ethan and talking quietly when their two little dogs suddenly started barking less than 10 feet from where she stood. The sound was so loud and sudden that it made me jump 3 inches off the couch. Ethan, however, gave absolutely no indication that he heard the dogs at all! Yet, at night if you so much as whisper near him he wakes up!
For the record: there has only been one night in which Ethan allowed us to sleep four straight hours. Usually I'm lucky to get 3 straight hours. Even that only happens between 5am and 8am IF he falls asleep by 5am. If he falls asleep after 5am he will still wake up at 8am.
Ethan spent his first Thanksgiving celebration with his dad's family last Sunday afternoon. I don't think he was put down more than 10 minutes the entire evening. He was in heaven.
Ethan's mom's family brought Thanksgiving celebration to his house. They made all the food, did all the cleaning up, and faught over who got to burp him and change him! It was fabulous!
Saturday afternoon, Luke and I got to spend our first time alone since Ethan's birth. We left Ethan with my mother and grandmother (with a bottle of pumped breastmilk) while we went to see Chicken Little in the theater and then grab a quick bite to eat. We were only gone 2hrs 45min, and we had a great time, but by the time we got back in the car to come home, I couldn't get there fast enough. Good thing we were only across the street! :-D
